Gräv 2015 in Jönköping
This time let me share my experience when I attended a very fruitful seminar called Gräv 2015 in Jönköping. Gräv is one of the most prestigious meetings for Swedish journalists. Gräv itself means "dig" , which is suitable to describe this event, journalists have to "dig" worthy information , don't they?
March 18th, 2015.
As a Swedish Institute NFGL, we had a chance to have a dinner before the seminar.
We visited Södra Vätterbygdens folkhögskola , a school for journalism in Sweden. The place is really beautiful, top of the hill, the view is awesome up there, SVT also told us that they also provided a building for the students to stay there while they are having their studies at SVT. Mr. Nils explained to us that the numbers of students who want to study journalism are decreasing, because of the unemployment in Sweden. It is bad since I think journalism is impotant to give information to the world. However, SVT is still considered as one of the most respectful school when it comes to journalism in Sweden.
Here are some pictures during this event :
Everyone dressed up and looked stunning!

On this day, we had a chance to meet some of Swedish top-notch journalists, like Mr. Erik Palm ( The 2011 Golden Shovel Award winner), Mrs. Kerstin Weighl (who dedicatedly works within the topic of the women that have been killed in Sweden). I saw several of SI fellows feel moved and couldn't help falling into tears while Mrs. Kerstin showed us a video from the children's perspective about their lost mother....This reminds me of my mother 10,000 km away from Sweden in Indonesia... We should never take them for granted, because every mother has a conditional love for us. Go call your mother now and ask how they are doing now! :D
The Chairman of Grav 2015, Mr. Terje Carlsson gave the opening speech for us.
Mrs. Kerstin and her masterpiece in Aftonbladet.
Mr. Erik Palm in action
In the last session, we were divided into several small groups to have a group discussion with other SI fellows to discuss about what the top 3 biggest risks for investigative journalists and the important tools to support this condition. So interesting to see what happened in other part of the world and the problems that they have to face.
After this, SI prepared a guided tour to Granna to see the museum and a short visit to polkagris candy shop.
Super fun!

Here it comes the first day of the seminar!
This was the schedule :
The blue one was mostly the most crowded one since those were the ones in English.
My favourite one was from Mr Henk Van Ess, the way he presented and the contents about how to find detail information is really useful! you can find his twitter at @henkvaness !
Mr Henk Van Ess in an awesome room ambience.
Another one that steals the attention was from Medyan Dairieh, about how the Islamic State was made

The second and the last day of the seminar!
We would not waste the last chance for us to dig...
The schedule
On the second day, my favourite part is when there was a panel discussion from whom had been working closely with the Middle Eastern issues. That was a thrill to hear from their experience and some of the audiences were also curious about that. It was a pity that everyone there seemed has not satisfied yet, but the time had come to an end.

And the top of the show was..... *drum roll*
The Golden Shovel Award!
SI NFGL ready to rocks!!!
Three SI NFGLs from Indonesia.
Had a chance to have a talk with Mr Terje Carlsson the chairman of this event when I had enough dancing.
I was curious about the preparation and everything (journalists instict, perhaps?) .
by the way, he is so humble to spare his time to talk with us!!!
Overall, I would like to thanks Swedish Institute for this chance. The knowledge, the networking and the great time we had was beyond awesome.... Since this is my last semester in my Master Degree, probably this could be my last event that I could attend before SI graduation ceremony and it was indeed a memorable one. Many thanks SI... :)
